Quality Counts

When you see a Misty Mountain Caller turkey call, the quality and craftsmanship show through.  This quality and craftsmanship not only makes Ted Klapperich's calls beautiful but makes their sound full and believable to the turkeys your are hunting.

A little about Ted:
Ted is a craftsman who has been working with wood for many years.  He began by making quality furniture and later started his own hardwood flooring business.  Ted is also a sportsman and avid turkey hunter.  He merged these two interests into the making of his quality turkey calls.  Take it from a man that who knows it from start to finish.  Ted makes the type of turkey calls that he wants  to use during the hunt. And Ted knows quality.

The quality materials that Ted uses for his calls makes the difference.  First, Ted begins with a solid piece of wood.  Most of Ted's calls are made from a section of a branch so that the concentric growth rings can be seen on the back of the call. Much of the wood Ted uses comes right from his land in Northeast Wisconsin. Ted also uses some more exotic woods. Each piece of wood is then cut down and hand sanded.  Next, Ted uses a 1/4 inch piece of slate, which is over three times the thickness of the slate in many other turkey calls.  The slate is painstakingly sanded to match up with the wood base.  Once these two pieces are mated together, they are sanded smooth.  Ted adds turkey tracks around the outside of the call.  This gives the call a decorative appeal as well as adds a texture to aid in gripping it.  Ted can also add a striped and/or dotted inlay to increase the beauty.  The wood is then final-sanded and sealed with several coats of a protective polyurethane finish.  This finish protects the call from the harsh outdoor elements and enhances the beauty of the wood.

Only a striker from Misty Mountain Caller can equal and enhance the beauty of one of Ted's turkey calls. Ted has a basic striker that comes with each turkey call he sells.  This basic striker comes in either maple (light) or walnut (dark) woods and has turkey tracks running up the length of the handle.  If you would like to take a step up, you can choose to have one of Ted's hand turned strikers.  These strikers come in a decorative design or in the shape of a shotgun or rifle shell complete with an inlayed wood primer.  The top of the line is a hand carved striker.  The hand carved strikers come in three different shapes.  You can choose a turned striker with an acorn carved in the end, a striker in the shape of a corn cob, or a striker in the shape of a mushroom.  Each of these strikers is beautiful in the home or office and functional in the woods.

Quality and craftsmanship make the sound and the beauty.
